The Center for Internet Security (CIS) Benchmarks are prescriptive configuration recommendations for more than 25+ vendor product families. CIS is a global community of IT and cybersecurity professionals who identify and validate security best practices. Their benchmarks are a consensus-based effort that can help fortify infrastructure against threats by limiting configuration-based security vulnerabilities. ITS will start applying this framework after the current change moratorium to better safeguard our computer systems and protect institutional assets. We will begin with our servers and continue with departmental servers managed by us. To minimize disruptions, ITS will reach out to each area in advance to schedule any changes and to coordinate activities.
